Halloween Festivities 2011

We had a great Halloween this year. This was the first time that Owen has really been old enough to get what was going on, and to be excited about dressing up. We wanted to do a family costume like we have in the past, but once Owen decided he wanted to be Buzz Lightyear, there was no changing his mind. We didn't feel like being Woody and Jessie, so we went as Mario and Peach, and Owen did his own thing. We had a great time carving a pumpkin, going to our stake Halloween carnival, visiting PJ and Courtney at their house, trick-or-treating, and visiting grandmas. Owen isn't really into the candy loving stage yet, so we only went to a few houses, but he still managed to come out with a lot of candy. He's already planning his costume for next year. :)

Skinny little arms. I swear I feed him.

Not too sure about the pumpkin guts.

Excited to put candles in Jack (that's what he named our pumpkin).

Apple cider and pumpkin puffs after a hard night of work on the pumpkin.

We went traditional this year. Owen talks to Jack every day.

Blowing out Jack's candles before bed.

Fishing at the stake Halloween carnival. There were SO many people there, and SO many cars for the  trunk-or-treat.

Mario and Peach. I made both costumes, and I must say, I'm pretty darn proud of Mario's hat. That was really tricky to figure out, but it turned out really cool.

Caramel apples at PJ and Courtney's house.

Our Halloween dinner, complete with green monster slime (ps - who knew that KoolAid had SO much sugar in it???  Ok, well, probably everyone but me. That's the last time I buy KoolAid to make at home).

Mummy pizzas, bone breadsticks with blood dipping sauce, and spider web chip dip.

Buzz Lightyear telling what his buttons do. We bought the costume at Target, but Matt made the wings to go with it. Don't they look awesome??

A back view of Matt's sweet wings.

So happy to be Buzz.

The whole family.

Using his laser to fight grandpa.

He was a little sad at first that his costume didn't have a laser, but he got over it pretty quickly. :)

Grandpa helps him fly.

Checking out his haul the next morning.

Right before I took this picture, Owen looked at his candy and said "Wow!". I don't think the point of Halloween hit him until that moment. :)

Teaching Owen how to sort Halloween candy.

Aw he is getting so big!! How exciting. :) I think every little boy at one time or another becomes obsessed with Buzz Light Year. Hey if you want permission to read my blog (sorry it's been private for a while now), just give me your email on facebook and I'll send you an invite.

You guys are awesome. That dinner looked amazing. I think my favorite is Owen's "Wow" picture. That is so cute.
