Houdini baby

Check out this sequence of pictures... they were taken within about 30 seconds. It appears that we can no longer leave Owen anywhere without strapping him in.

Silly boy.

Pucker up!

Free kisses, anyone?

This next one makes me laugh - it looks like he's trying
to pose, but it doesn't look like him at all.

4 months old!

Owen turned four months today. It's gone by so fast, and he's getting so big! It seems like such a short time since he was a tiny baby, and we were strapping him into his huge carseat for the first time to take him home from the hospital. Here are some things we love about our little boy:

-The way he curls his toes all the time. He does it so much that he picks up tons of fuzz - from his blankets, from his socks, from the carpet... It's kind of gross how much fuzz he can get in his toes in one day of wearing socks.
-His dimples! He's got five that we can count easily.
-His little chuckle.
-His new tricks - puckering up his lips (we'll try to get a picture of this soon), and chewing on his own tongue (which looks really strange).
-The way he rubs his own head while he's eating (mom - this is pretty much just like Kevin used to do).
-The way he grabs everything that's placed within reach, and shoves it in his mouth. He can get his entire fist in there.
-The way he slimes our cheeks when he's giving "kisses".
-The way he kicks and splashes in the bath - he loves bath time!
-His "phantom suck" - even when he's asleep and has no pacifier, he sucks on it.
-The way he tries to put his own pacifier in his mouth - we'll have to get a video of this soon - it's pretty funny. He turns it around and around and tries again and again, and can never quite manage.
-His big brown puppy dog eyes.

Ok, so this list could go on and on. :) We love our little boy. Here are some pictures of the last four months:

Family and Valentine's Day

My whole family came out here for the first weekend in February to see the Young Ambassadors show - where Lexie, Hilary, and my cousin Jordan are on the tech crew and my cousin Josh is a performer. We got to do a lot of fun things with them, including going out to ice cream, going to dinner, making eggs benedict for breakfast, and going to the Bean museum. It was a fun weekend!

This past weekend for Valentine's Day we just had a little party with the three of us. We made spinach dip and cake balls (recipe courtesy of bakerella.blogspot.com) and watched a movie. Oh, and we also bought some yummy cupcakes from Mindy (cupcakesbydesign.blogspot.com). I'd give you pictures of those, because they were so cute, but... we ate them all. They were so good.

Anyway, here are pictures for you, and another (better) video of Owen laughing.

Chilling with daddy.

With daddy and the white rhino at the Bean museum.

Wiped out after looking at all the animals.

Waiting to be seated at Macaroni Grill.

"What's up?!" Sweet guitar sweatshirt he got for Christmas.

All bundled up in his snowsuit so we can go up on campus to meet daddy.

He reminded me of this guy...

He didn't fit in his carseat with the snowsuit on, haha.

Wearing a sticker we got from the Honor Code office that says "Hug Me, I'm Honorable."

And finally, another video of him laughing.

Happy birthdays!

On January 30, Owen turned 100 days old, and on the 31st, Matt turned 24 years, so we had a weekend of partying. For Owen's 100 party, Matt and I dressed up as old people (in our 100's, get it?), and Owen got to wear a special crown (which he didn't love). We went out to dinner at Brick Oven that night, made sugar cookies in the shape of 100's, and then watched a movie. Owen fell asleep halfway through dinner, and missed the rest of his 100 party, but I don't think he really cared. :)

On the 31st, my sisters Lexie and Hilary watched Owen while Matt and I went to the Timpanogos Temple. We had never been through that one, and it was soo pretty!! When we got home we went out for ice cream, and then rented a movie for the night. It was a pretty chill but fun weekend of parties. Below are pictures from our 100 party and some other pictures we've taken recently. There are two videos at the bottom, too - don't miss those!

Matt was stirring the dough so hard that he broke the spoon.

Sleepy boy wearing his way cute outfit from Amber for the first time.

"No more pictures, Mom."

Poor boy fell asleep mid-finger suck.

I thought his way long socks made him look like he was wearing leg warmers, so we took a couple of ballerina pictures. He was having way too much fun. :)

All dressed up for church.

Ok, I know this picture is at a funny angle, but here's the story. Owen was practicing sitting up, and I was sitting right behind him. I held the camera at arm's length trying to get a picture of him sitting up by himself, but I was watching him in case he fell, so this was the closest I got. But anyway, Owen can hold himself up in a sitting position by leaning on his hands... kind of like a gorilla. It's really cute. He's getting stronger, and pretty soon, he'll be able to sit up all by himself!

Owen found his feet about two weeks ago, and now whenever he's on his back, he holds on to them. He has yet to suck on his toes, but he's already perfected the art of pulling his socks off, little stinker. :)

"What, mom? I'm not doing anything!"

I love how his face squishes up, since he's got no teeth. Look at those big lips and fat cheeks!

Owen has discovered the TV, and loves looking at it. He only gets glimpses every now and then when I watch a movie while Matt's at work at night, but he's enthralled every time he sees it.

Owen loves to bounce in his jumperoo. Sometimes he even gets both feet off the floor at the same time. It's funny to watch him bounce.

I got a video of Owen laughing! Again, the angle is funny. When Owen laughs, he'll only do it two or three times, and then he's done. He was laughing on his changing table, and I didn't have anywhere else to set the camera besides on his wipes. So the angle is what it is. But at least you can hear him laughing. :)

Congratulations, Matt!

We went to the awards ceremony tonight for the Honors English essay contest. Matt won 2nd place (and 200 dollars) for his personal essay entitled "Footsteps in the Snow". It's a fantastic essay about his choice to follow in his father's footsteps and become a business major. He worked really hard on it, and I am so proud of him!! Way to go, Matt!

ps - if you want to read it, it will be posted here in the next couple of days.
