Sunday Pictures

Last Sunday was Owen's first time going to Church.

He did such a great job and made it through all three meetings with no problem.
After Church we decided to take pictures of him in his cute little sweater jumpsuit.
These comic strips show about how things went.

The boy who would not take a serious picture.

The little stinker kept crossing his eyes at the last second.

After this last one we both just about peed our pants laughing.
We never did get a really good one.

Halloween... and other pictures

First, some great news. Owen took a bottle last night!! We won't be using a bottle a lot, but this means that Matt can take over some of his feedings at night when I need to sleep. Also, Owen went five hours between his feedings last night, which was lovely for me. I still didn't sleep well (Owen makes too much noise while he's asleep for me to ever sleep really well), but at least I didn't sleep well for longer!

And now, by popular demand, here are some more cute pictures of Owen. :)

First, his Halloween outfit. He didn't have a costume (we weren't going anywhere on Halloween, so we figured he didn't need one), but Matt's mom gave him a really cute pumpkin hat and some pumpkin socks. He wore those all day long, and he looked so cute!

Next, two of my favorite outfits that Owen has. The overalls are from Grandma Bromley, and I think the striped outfit is from Matt's mom. He's only worn the striped one twice, and he's already too big for it - he's not fat, he's just so dang long!

Next, some of Owen's funny faces. I think he may turn out to be even better than Matt at making crazy faces. We love to sit and just watch all the faces he makes - he cracks us up.

This is Owen's reaction to Matt stealing his pacifier.

And last but not least, just some random cute pictures.

Getting warmed up after a bath in the cute blanket that aunt Karen made.

I love his wrinkly tiny little baby hands!

Owen goes tanning...

Owen is testing high for bilirubin in his blood - that's the stuff that makes babies turn yellow and get jaundice - so the doctor prescribed photo-therapy for him. Basically, it means that he's got to lay under a special light that breaks down all the bad stuff in his blood. This is what it looks like:

As you can tell from the picture, it's not fun. He is so long that he can reach both ends of the thing, and he kicks and waves his arms around so much that he hurts himself against the sides. In addition, the light can cause blindness if the baby's eyes are exposed to it, so he has to wear special goggles and a hat pulled over his eyes, plus we have to keep his head covered by the sheet you see hanging down. Because he moves around so much, we have to watch him all the time to make sure he doesn't pull the sheet down on himself or expose his head to the light. That means that we've pulled all-nighters in order to watch him, and Matt and I are pretty much running on empty. His numbers today from his blood test were a lot lower, though, so hopefully this is his last night in his 'tanning bed'. It breaks my heart to see him in there.

On a happier note, here are some fun pictures from the last few days:

No, we didn't pose either of the above pictures. :)

Matt's dad came to visit and we took a three generation picture of the Farrell boys.

Owen is a cuddlebug.

Big stretch.

Hanging out with daddy after church.

Owen has huge hands. I'm thinking he'll be a great pianist. :)

And here are his enourmously long feet. The next Michael Phelps, perhaps?

His first bath at home.

Loving the hair brushing once again.

Baby burrito.

So cute.

My perfect little boy.

Owen Matthew Farrell

Here he is! 8lbs, 6oz, 21". Born 6:32 PM on October 22, 2008.

I love the picture of him getting his hair brushed - he was loving it. And check out the first picture, where he's smiling in his sleep. You can see all whopping four of his dimples, including the one on his chin. Cute boy. :)

Say what??

True story:

Matt and I were standing in the checkout line at the Creamery on 9th last night when the guy ahead of us in line turned around and said to me, "Excuse me, but is that a costume?" (referring to my stomach). I couldn't tell if he was joking or not, but he looked pretty serious, so I said "no...." He explained by saying "well, you know, it's so close to Halloween that I thought maybe it was."

Riiiight. Ok, it's time to have this baby right now.

Things you should never say to a pregnant lady in her third trimester:

"Gosh, you're huge!" -- Gee, thanks for pointing that out. You know, I didn't really notice - I guess that's why even my maternity clothes aren't fitting!!

"You're still pregnant?!" -- Well, no, I've actually already had the baby. I just missed being pregnant so much that I decided to duct tape a watermelon to my stomach underneath my shirt, just for fun. Of course I'm still pregnant!!

"How are you feeling?" -- This one's actually ok to ask, if you really want the answer, which is usually something like 'hot, tired, big, hungry, grumpy, ready to be done'. If you don't want to hear that list along with a whole host of other things that happen to be affecting me at the moment, don't ask.

....So, I'm 39 weeks pregnant and ready to be done. Can you tell?? On the other hand, this means that in a few short weeks or days (I'm praying for days at this point), we'll have our own little boy to hold and play with. I can't wait!!
