For Christmas someone in our ward anonymously gave us tickets to the Star Wars Exhibit at the Tech Museum in San Jose. Matt LOVES Star Wars, so we decided to take a family trip for his birthday. He took the day off (and we called Owen 'sick' out of school) and headed down.
The exhibit was AMAZING. So many original costumes, models, puppets, and props from the movies. My favorite part was seeing the actual space ship models they used to film many scenes - so much detail work went into making those! We all had a great time. Nora came away from the day being able to say "Yoda", "Darth Vader", "Obi-wan Kenobi", and sing Darth Vader's theme. Mission accomplished. :) After we were done in the Star Wars exhibit, we went and saw the rest of the museum. It was good too, but Star Wars was by far our favorite part.

Han Solo and Boba Fett costumes. |
Millennium Falcon model. |
This baby loves her daddy. |
The land cruiser Luke drives in IV. |
Driving a hovercraft! |
Testing out the mini hovercraft models we built. |
Darth Vader! I loved seeing his dissected mask in the case to the right. That did NOT look comfortable. |
One of the real Yoda puppets used in the movies! |
Wookies! |
Owen can't keep the names of R2-D2 and C3PO straight... it's pretty funny. |
The kids got to make their own light sabers! |
Elsewhere in the museum... can you see Nora's glowing diaper through her pants? We thought that was pretty hilarious. |
The kids try out wheelchair racing. |
These dots started chasing you if you stood too close to the wall. |
Matt running from the dots... and freaking Nora out. |
We had a great day! |
We didn't have time to make a birthday cake until a few days later... so Matt got a candle in a hostess cupcake. Don't judge. :) |
Manly presents. |
Celebrating with angel food cake (because Nora can actually eat that) a few days later. |
