These pics are way late, but this is what we did for Matt's dad's 50th birthday last month - went indoor skydiving. The pics aren't great quality (it was too hard to take pictures through the scratched glass), but you can see what it was all about. It was expensive, but it was soooo fun!





And this is the cake that Matt and I made for his dad's 50th birthday. (It's Mount Kilimanjaro, in case you couldn't tell :).

Catching up

We haven't been doing a whole lot beyond the daily work and play, so I don't have too much to report. I wanted to put up some videos of Owen, however, because he's growing so much! He's talking in full sentences now, is learning how to swim, loves to play outside, loves to read books and sing songs, and is basically the best little boy we could ever ask for. We love him so much!


We play this game almost every time we're trying to get Owen out of the tub. He hasn't yet figured out that we will always win.




This was the aftermath of our talent at the talent show during the Farrell family reunion. Matt and I decided to do a "Minute to Win It" talent (if you don't know that TV show, look it up - it's pretty entertaining). We chose the one where you have to pull all the tissues out of a box in under one minute so that Owen could help us. The following video is what happened after we were done.... if you listen closely, you can hear Owen yelling "TISSUES!" the whole time. :)




Owen learning how to swim in the hot tub. There is a spot on the marble tiles in the hot tub that looks like a face. Owen calls it "The Scary" (I have no idea where he came up with that). That's what he's saying over and over in the video - he's "swimming to the Scary".





That's all for now. I want to get a good video of him talking, but as soon as I pull out the camera, he starts making cheesy faces and won't talk. Hopefully I'll get one soon. :)

It's official!

Matt is a working man! He was offered an internship with Monahan Pacific (www.monahanpacific.com), a real estate investment and development company in San Rafael, California. He'll be starting out as an intern for 3-6 months working on the management team for a large development project they're doing in San Rafael. He is very excited - this is exactly the company he wanted to work for, and it will get him some great experience. This means we'll be in California at least for the next couple months. Hooray for answered prayers!

This was after we had packed up Owen's crib (and everything else in that room). It was completely empty except for his mattress. It psyched him out - when he woke up in the morning and after his nap, he wouldn't get off his mattress. Poor kid. :)

Sailing in the San Francisco Bay

Matt and I were invited to go sailing in the bay a few weeks ago. We embarked from Emeryville in the morning, sailed around to the north side of Angel Island and had a picnic there, then sailed past Sausalito, the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, and the Bay Bridge before heading back home. It was a great day! We LOVED sailing, and hopefully we'll be going again soon.

A view of the east side of Angel Island. Angel Island handled many of the immigrants that came to the western US. It's often called "the Ellis Island of the West", and many of the buildings that used to house staff as well as the people that were quarantined on the island are still there.

This is where we had our picnic. This building on the north side of Angel Island used to be a barracks for some of the staff on the island, and is now a museum.

More city. You can see the Transamerica building to the left (the triangle building) and Ghirardelli Square to the right - if you look closely you can see the big "Ghirardelli" sign above the building. That's my favorite place in all of San Francisco. :)
